ERIKA FRANCISKA JUNG Peacefully, following a lengthy illness, we sadly announce the passing of our wife, grand-mother and great-grandmother on March 31, 2000. Left to hold memories of her close are her husband Herbert Jung; her son-in-law Roy Shymanski; her granddaughter Jackie Shymanski; her grandson Michael Shymanski (Anna) and great-grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew. Erika was predeceased by her daughter Monica Shymanski; her son Marcel Jung and her first great-grandson Eric. Born in Berlin, Germany on September 1, 1920, Erika moved to Winnipeg with her husband and daughter in 1953. They later chose life on the farm in Fraserwood, where their family grew with the adoption of son Marcel. Several foster children also joined them, and continue to visit to this day. Erika was a member of the Womens Institute, and in later years attended the Adult Day Care program at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Erikas love of the land, gardening and animals was passed on to subsequent generations of her family. Perhaps her greatest gift was a strength of will, unbowed by years of illness. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, at the Gimli Lutheran Church, 50 3rd Ave. at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Gimli Hospital Rebuilding Fund, care of the RM of Gimli. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbart Funeral Home.
